Traditionally more popular throughout Europe, green roofs have recently become far more common in the UK. Contractors now view green roofs as a tremendously beneficial way to present flat spaces.
Green roofs provide an eco-friendly & attractive way of displaying an open space which would otherwise be lost. The open spaces that green roofs can prove to be particularly effective are flat roofs & podium decks.
There are 3 main types of green roofs & Wallbarn can supply you with everything you need to establish & set-up all 3. The 3 types of green roofs including component green roofs, these are:
- Component Green roofs
- Modular Green roofs
- Living Walls
Each individual green roof system has been designed to suit a particular area. In the case of component green roofs, they are particularly well suited to large scale areas & more complicated unlevel areas.
The vegetation used within component green roofs, can be grass, sedum blankets, sedum/wildflower mixes, herbs or bio-diverse (brown roof) plants; whichever best suits your needs & requirements will be used.
Each layer or component that comprises component green roofs will be supplied separately in bag or roll form and installed separately as a “dry” build-up. This allows easy access to roof areas.
Component green roofs are more flexible than some of there counterparts because they can be “built into” existing structures.
