Wallbarn is launching its new Green Roof Division at Ecobuild next week with a new range of modular instant pre-grown sedum green roofs, modular living wall systems, biodiverse and wild flower green roofs and a full plan-and-design, installation and post installation maintenance service for all green roof and living wall products.

We are developing a new generation of modular sedum green roof system which will be the most easy to install, attractive and high quality product of its type in the market. Our special blend of plant species, our unique substrate mixture and highly designed, fully module holder and carrier means that we will have stunning sedum roofs available to clients giving the very best in instant green roofs.

We aim to support a range of customers and clients, from waterproofing systems companies who need assurance that their systems will not be damaged by green roof installation; to roofing and building contractors who wish to install systems without and know that an easy to fit product is available to them which is safe to use in conjunction with their constraints as contractors; through to self-build and DIY projects where cost constraints mean employing landscapers is not an option.

We also offer a complete design, install and maintenance package for any client who wishes to appoint an expert to design a suitable green roof or living wall, install the product and offer a full maintenance and inspection programme over the short or long term.

A new living wall system is also about to be launched which will be lightweight, flexible, durable and hardwearing and suitable for both internal and external walls. Being modular in design they offer designers and end clients a huge range of options in how and where a living wall can be installed. Our aim is to make living walls more affordable, so these walls will be ideal for domestic applications.

We are over the moon to announce the latest addition to the Wallbarn team – Mike Cottage. Mike will be heading up our Green Roofing and Living Wall Division and will be helping to develop a new range of sustainable products. Mike formerly worked for one of the UKs leading green roof growers and installers.

Mike Cottage has many years’ experience in the green roof and living wall market and is one of the leading lights in the industry. He has lectured on many aspects of sustainable construction and acted as a consultant on projects and policy making for local authorities, waterproofing systems companies, architects and landscapers. He has developed cutting edge systems and practices for a whole range of sustainable projects and designs and we are thrilled to welcome him at Wallbarn

A brilliant example of how ASP supports help to hide unsightly cables

This photograph shows how the ASP support pads create a cavity beneath the flags to allow unsightly cables or other services to be hidden from view on the roof deck or terrace. Not only is this an efficient use of space by it improves the aesthetics of the area immensely.

PAVING UP TO EDGES…..tips and advice

When paving up to edges, parapet walls and drainage channels applicators can take advantage of our new smaller base plates for adjustable support pads.

These base plates designed to fit under all adjustable supports pads are only 150mm in diameter which means that the pads can be pushed directly up to the edge without risk of the slab above being unsupported.

Two slabs, rather than four corners, rest on each headpiece and those slabs can be butted directly up to the wall, making seamless paving across the whole area possible.

A great example of TD adjustable support pads

A recent project in the City of London shows how well suited TD supports for decking are for refurb jobs.

The many changes in height across the deck were easily accommodated using the adjustable supports.

The finished decking planks were installed flush against the door thresholds. The finish was extremely attractive.
