Wallbarn
Mega Pads - extended height paving support pads
Printable Version Of This Page

Due to the success of our ASP Adjustable Support range, Wallbarn has developed the MEGAPAD, for higher and lower clearances off the deck.

Designed to hold both suspended paving slabs and timber decking, these support pads have a massive range of height. We can supply fully lockable, telescopically adjustable support pads from 22mm right up to 620mm. These units can be used where very large areas built to falls require a large range of cavity across the whole area, or where voids are required to cover services, ducts, gulleys and steps.

They are also extremely tough and strong, with each support pad able to tolerate a weight of 800 kg. This is a much greater weight tolerance than other supports on the market.

They are extremely durable and secure as they are designed to be “locked” into place so there is no chance of slabs becoming unstable.

Drainage integrity is maintained as the rainwater flows between and below the slabs without interference with the top deck. Users will not be disturbed by ponding water.

SEE OUR CASE STUDY HERE

They are designed to be easy to install and adjust.  For complicated areas slabs can be installed and then final minor adjustments can be made when the slabs are in situ, without the need for constant re-setting. It is significantly faster, cheaper and easier to use this range of support pads for finishes than by trying to lay additional screeds or fix false floors.

The Mega Pads units are made up of fixed sections which fit into one another securely, and an adjustable section on the top end which holds the head piece.

Each section is locked into place using the “Multi-function Easy Key”. This ensures that none of the elements work their way loose over time and the upper surface is completely secure.

MEGAPADS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE IN SPECIAL NEW LOW SIZES

Wallbarn can now offer Megapads in new smaller heights, where applicators have restricted thresholds to work with.

These supports are available 22-30mm or 28-37mm meaning that paving and decking can be suspended at much lower heights than before, but still have full adjustment. Continuous falls from 22mm up to 620mm are possible using the Megapad range.

Edges and end-of-runs can be paved more effectively and securely with the Mega Pads system.

At 115mm high and above, the lug headpiece is removable, the support pad can be turned upside down and the lug head unit is placed onto the bottom of the base plate.

Since the base plate is 200mm in diameter, when turned upside down it exceeds the diameter of the (old) head piece; so the paving slab sits securely onto the plate and does not overhang the supporting columns. Therefore, the slabs can be butted up against the wall without problems

TD TIMBER DECKING HEADPIECES FOR MEGAPADS

MEGAPADS can be used for supporting timber decking as well as paving slabs.

Wallbarn can also announce a brand new headpiece for Megapads specifically for timber decking. These headpieces will launch at the start of 2012.

The headpieces click into the centre of the flat head of all Megapads to house a timber joist securely in the same way that the TD headpiece does for our other adjustable range. The distance between the lugs is 60mm which will house a 2 inch joist.

Because the Megapads can withstand a load of 800kg per unit, when using them for timber decking a larger span between each unit can be allowed, and with less Megapads being required, a significant cost saving can be achieved. The extended range of adjustment (105mm for the larger sizes) means that less different sizes are required than for the TD support range, making purchasing an easier task. The locking mechanism on the stems also means that there is no risk of the supports starting to unwind themselves, which may cause changes in the level and instability.

Ask for Megapad TD when laying timber decking.

A completely flat headpiece can also be achieved for larger timber joists.

The top layer of decking can then be fixed to the joist framework.

Slope Correctors
The base plates come with clip fixings to allow slope correctors to be fitted. These wedge shaped levellers help prevent tilting on the deck which has been built to falls and ensures the support pad, and its centre of gravity, keeps completely vertical; thus keeping the slabs on top perfectly stable.

They are available in 3 sizes: 1% or (0.57 °) ; 2% (1.11 °) ; and 3% (1.71 ° )

Wallbarn has developed a new generation of support pads for higher clearances, base plate levellers to prevent tilting, and locking sections to stop movement through the threads.
