MINI TD MEGAPADS are our special smaller height pedestals suitable for suspended paving systems. we designed them due to often very restricted height thresholds, particularly on refurbishment projects. Using a 25mm deck-board and a 100mm joist adds a great deal of height to the system, and only tiny clearances remain.
Our customers asked for a solution and we responded. We now have a product specifically designed for low thresholds able to achieve completely flat and seamless finishes. Wallbarn can offer fully adjustable pedestals for these extremely low height tolerances. Even as low as 10mm, installers can achieve precise, split millimetre accuracy in the height of the pedestal to accommodate tiny changes in the level.
In 2017 Wallbarn has launched its new ultra mini TD Megapad. The 10-20mm Mini TD Megapad has been designed for use when working with very tight spaces. The thread allows 5mm of change to the level with a 5mm extension plate which is fitted to the bottom of the pedestal.
The extension plate increases the pedestal height by 5mm so users can have a 10-15mm or a 15-20mm fully adjustable pedestal for use in these tight spaces.
Special handle grips have been incorporated into the design to help installers fit their fingers into this tight gap and can turn the pedestal to adjust the height. Adjustment can be made whilst the slab is in situ, so delays by constantly lifting the slab to change the height are avoided.
The extended handle at the side allows installers easier access for any final movements.
Wallbarn believes that the Mini TD Megapad 10-20mm is the smallest fully adjustable pedestal for decking on the market in UK.
Two alternatively designed pedestals, the Mini TD Megapad 22-30mm and Mini TD Megapad 28-37mm, are available for slightly higher clearances.
The lug fittings on the headpieces are set 60mm apart and will house a timber joist comfortably. The headpieces and baseplates are both 150mm in diameter. The stems are telescopic, so users can turn the pedestal until it “bites” to the correct height. They can then use a spirit level to get exactly the correct height.
Using these TD Mini-Megapads lifts the timber joists off the deck, reducing the risk of abrasion damage to the under surface and keeping all the wood away from any standing water. The telescopic stems also allow for extremely accurate adjustments in height levels so installers can achieve the optimum level.
These Mini TD Megapads, being so small, could present a problem to any “fat fingered” installer who might have trouble getting their fingers into the cavity to adjust the pedestal.
Wallbarn has a multi-function key. The curved and shaped profile at one end which can be used as a spanner / wrench type tool. It grips around the series of vertical bars between the head and base and can be used to turn the thread up and down.
TD PLUS HEADPIECE
Both the 10-25mm Mini TD Megapad and the 22-30 & 28-37mm Mini TD Megapads can be fitted with the TD Plus joist fitting headpiece. There is a bar one side with holes to pass screw fixings if required. The TD Plus headpiece is often used if the joist is oversized or if users wish to secure the pedestal to the joist.

ARRESTING THE FALL OF THE ROOF DECK
For decks which have a considerable fall in the level, slope correctors can be fitted to the base plates to arrest the fall.
For the Mini TD Megapad 10-25mm the 3-8mm rubber acoustic shim can be loose fitted under the base to ensure the pedestal is fully vertical. of the smaller Megapad units.
For the 22-30mm and 28-37mm Mini TD Megapad, Slope Correctors of 1%, 2% and 3% gradients are designed to clip onto the baseplates to arrest the fall of the roof deck.
