In areas such as road and railway cuttings, excavations on buildings sites, riverbanks and roof gardens, seeding the soil can prove inefficient, with erosion caused by rain, wind and birds.
Because the seeds are impregnated into the biodegradable fabric, they will not move around during the intial germination stages, helping to achieve a faster, more uniform growth of grass across the area. |

The soil is prepared by levelling and scratching the surface. The Pro-grass is laid onto the soil and secured with pegs to stop it moving in the wind. The fabric must then be watered, and kept moist.
After approximately two weeks the first shoots of the juvenille grass will be evident. Allow around four weeks for the grass to grow and thicken up before trafficking the area. Then, when the grass sufficiently long, cut and irrigate as normal.
The cellulose fabric itself will degrade after a period of around three months, leaving thick, luscious grass. |

| Pro-grass is ideal on very large areas, such as parklands, lawns and golf courses because vast areas of exposed earth can be covered quickly and easily, thereby reducing weed infestation. The seeds are protected from birds and other pests, and a comprehensive sowing process is achieved with out the expense of turfing. |
| |
| Pro-grass is also very useful as the top layer on green roof systems helping to cultivate the vegetation. |
| |
|
| |
On high roofs the soil and plant life can be easily blown away, wasting materials and hard work, and potentially causing damage and injury to anything or anyone below.
By covering the area in the fabric blanket while the young grass starts to grow, the area is protected from the elements at the crucial stage, which will help foster the vegetation. |
| |
| Our standard seeds are either a rye grass or wild flower mix.
However, for particular climatic conditions, such as saline, arid situations or where a very hard wearing tough type of grass is required; clients can select their own seed mix be be impregnated in the fabric mat.
Non-standard selections will incur a slightly higher cost, but it is important to get expert horticultural advice when designing the garden or parkland as non-suitable vegetation will suffer and die over time. |
