This project was a refurbishment of an existing building, where the waterproofing membrane had been completely replaced. There was a large roof deck built to a fall and several small terrace areas.
The contractors were keen to ensure that the soft timber was raised off the deck to prevent rotting, and also wanted to ensure that the larger fall across the roof could be arrested so that the finished deck area was completely flat.
Wallbarn TD adjustable timber decking support pads were the ideal solution.
The supports were loose laid onto the deck without fixings (as this might compromise the waterproofing), and timber bearers were laid onto the headpieces, housed in between the positioning pegs to prevent movement.
Wallbarn recommends that the supports are placed at a maximum distance of 600mm apart. If high loadings are to be placed on the decking, such as Jacuzzis, then supports will need to be even closer.
