Roof Outlets
The drain connectors, roof outlets and collars which are available from Wallbarn are made from a variety of different materials.
It is an essential requirement for installers to ensure they select the correct material when ordering products that the material used is compatible with the waterproofing system being laid. Certain materials are designed to be heat bonded to the membrane in a patch while others are designed to be sandwiched between two layers of waterproofing. Some can be secured with bolts and seals, some cannot.
Wallbarn offer three types of roof outlets and collars which all incorporate distinctive properties:
TPE Outlets and collars for bituminous membranes
TPE is a compound of EPDM and polypropylene, developed as a cost effective way to waterproof and protect drainage holes and outlets on roofs and balconies in conjunction with bituminous waterproofing membranes. The material is tough, flexible and durable.
It is UV stable and resistant to deterioration by normal atmospheric elements and ground salts. It can withstand temperature of 120°C and will not become brittle at very low temperatures.
These roof outlets, collars and vents are ideal for SBS and APP bituminous membranes, including built-up (felt), mastic asphalt, hot melt and other liquid applied membranes. Wallbarn manufactures a range of products in TPE, a semi-flexible compound containing polypropylene and EPDM. It is strong and durable, resistant to UV and ambient waterborne chemicals and salts.
Circular roof outlets are installed across the deck area approximately 25-30m2 apart. They are manufactured with a perforated flange for secure bonding. They are placed into pre-cast holes along the horizontal deck on the roof or podium.
EPDM High Performance outlet for EPDM and bituminous membrances
Circular outlets are designed to be secured around the drainage hole and sandwiched between two layers of waterproofing membrane. We supply a circular drain connector with a smooth flange, a circular drain connector with perforated flange, and our special Siphon outlet drain connectors to prevent bad odours from escaping though the drain.
The spigot is 250mm long and is inserted down inside of the HDPE drainpipe. This gives ample assurance that no water can back up behind the rubber and onto the deck. The spigot is slightly cone shaped and ribbed. This helps with installation into the hole, and prevents water passing back up behind the spigot.
We have drain connectors made from high quality EPDM for circular downpipes; which are placed into pre-cast holes along the horizontal deck on the roof or podium. Corner fittings are available for holes on the junction of horizontal and vertical parapet wall, usually running through the wall and into HDPE drainpipe.
Circular roof outlets are installed across the deck area approximately 25-30m2 apart. They are designed to be mechanically fixed or stuck with adhesive. They are suitable for bituminous or EPDM membranes.
PVC outlets and collars for synthetic membranes
Wallbarn also supplies roof outlets and drain connectors in PVC. These materials are not manufactured with perforated flanges, but they are all designed to be heat bonded to the PVC membrane, achieving a seamless bond.
They are designed to be inserted into the drainage pipe as with the other products, but they should be used only with compatible waterproofing membranes, so installers and specifies should be sure to check with the waterproofing manufacturer.
