Job Vacancy – Marketing Executive

Company background: Wallbarn is a family run business supplying specialised construction materials to the roofing, structural waterproofing and landscaping sectors.

Products include support systems for paving and decking, drainage and protection layers, an exciting new green roof system and premium decking solutions.

Job role: Your focus will be the effective execution of our day-to-day marketing efforts targeting both influencers and purchasers, driving interest in Wallbarn’s entire product range:

  • coordinating marketing activity
  • sourcing and creating content
  • managing marketing resources
  • supervising third party suppliers

You will be supported by management with clear goals and on-the-job training, complemented by regular employee reviews. Personal development is taken seriously at Wallbarn, where everyone is expected to challenge how we do things and share their experiences with the team.

Responsibilities

  • Website: day-to-day updates via our CMS incl. product info, news, new case studies and basic housekeeping, as well as briefing web agency on more complex work
  • Outbound email: generating ideas, compiling content and ensuring timely dispatch of weekly newsletters
  • SEO & AdWords: work with agency/colleagues to optimise investment through regular monitoring and adjustment
  • Social media: work with agency to ensure healthy pipeline of regular posts, coordinating contributors and content
  • Case studies: identify new projects, arrange photography/filming, author and publish content
  • Industry platforms: act as custodian ensuring our listings are kept up to date
  • Brochureware/POS: coordinate the creation and distribution of materials both instore and elsewhere
  • Trade events: take lead coordinating all aspects of shows whilst maximizing exposure before, during and after
  • Sales enablement: keep team updated on brand and product positioning and what support/materials are available to them
  • Competitive analysis: monitor competitor activity, news, social feeds and websites regularly sharing insights with management.
  • Reporting: monitor the effectiveness of our marketing in driving awareness, growing share of voice and driving enquiries against the money and effort invested

Qualifications / experience

  • Marketing qualification or industry certification useful
  • Experience in similar vertical/horizontal business
  • Extremely organised: quick to assimilate new information and prioritise tasks
  • Computer literate: fluent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Strong communicator: good spoken & written English essential
  • Demonstrable understanding of:
  • Interpreting marketing strategies
  • Brand development, positioning & stewardship
  • Customer relationship management
  • Strong communicator: good spoken & written English essential
  • Hands-on experience of event management/trade fairs
  • Digital skills using/managing:
  • Company social channels e.g. Facebook & Twitter
  • Content management tools e.g. WordPress
  • Design software for images and graphics e.g. Photoshop, InDesign
  • CRM tools e.g. ACT!
  • Experience dealing with external agencies/suppliers
  • Good understanding of analytics/measurement and upward reporting

Job role

You will be selling Wallbarn’s entire product range to a variety of B2B customers including contractors, merchants and developers.

The role will focus on engaging both new and existing customers in the construction industry and converting them into repeat purchasers of Wallbarn products. You will be supported by your team and by management, with clear targets, regular reporting, robust systems and processes as well as great marketing material, not to mention a range of products already well-known in the industry.

Personal development is taken very seriously with on the job training complemented by regular employee reviews. Everyone is expected to challenge how we do things and share their experiences with the team.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting & approaching new customers
  • Handling incoming sales calls and answering basic technical queries
  • Processing customer orders, liaising with fulfilment team
  • Occasionally assisting warehousing team to ensure deliveries go out
  • Meeting and presenting to customers in person
  • Account managing existing customers and keeping CRM system up to date
  • Supporting marketing efforts including attending trade shows
  • Developing and growing own customer/revenue base

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to think strategically as well as on their feet
  • Able to absorb technical information
  • Proven track record of direct sales

    • Office suite e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel (essential)
    • SAGE accounting software (desirable)
    • ACT! CRM software (desirable)
    • AutoCAD software (familiarity helpful)
  • Knowledge of the construction industry a distinct advantage
  • Experience of online industry platforms an advantage e.g. Barbour ABI, RIBA / NBS, BIM
