Sedum or Wildflower
Rollout Green Roof Systems
Built layer by layer for lasting sustainability
Why Choose Rollout Green Roof System?
Rollout green roofs provide a flexible, proven solution for large or complex roof spaces. Installed as a layered system, they combine drainage, filtration, and vegetation to create a living green roof. Ideal for new builds or refurbishments, they deliver design freedom, long-term performance, and environmental value.
- Quick, clean installation with minimal disruption
- No loose substrate or heavy machinery required
- Instant green finish for immediate visual impact
- Compatible with a wide range of waterproofing systems
- Independently fire tested to BS EN 13501-5 BROOF(t4)
- Easy access for inspection and maintenance

Two Options to Suit Every Project
Rollout green roofs provide an instant, natural layer of vegetation that enhances biodiversity and sustainability across a wide range of roof types. Supplied as pre-cultivated blankets, these systems establish quickly to deliver reliable coverage and lasting environmental benefits. Both the sedum and wildflower options produce seasonal flowering displays and attract pollinators, supporting ecological balance while improving air quality, thermal performance, and rainwater management.
A low-maintenance, pre-grown system featuring 8–12 hardy sedum varieties. These resilient plants deliver reliable coverage, seasonal colour, and excellent drought tolerance with minimal upkeep. Designed for long-term performance in line with GRO Code guidance, it’s ideal for extensive roofs where durability and simplicity are key.
A vibrant mix of 40 native UK wildflower species grown on a biodegradable coir blanket. Designed to boost biodiversity and support pollinators, it creates a natural, meadow-like finish. Suited to projects seeking seasonal variation and enhanced ecological value.
The layers that make up a Rollout Green Roof
A rollout green roof is formed from a series of engineered layers, each performing a specific function to protect the building and support long-term plant growth. Each layer works together to create a balanced, self-sustaining system that protects the roof and supports healthy plant life year-round.

- Waterproofing Layer – Forms the base of the system, protecting the structure from water ingress.
- Protection Fleece (Geotextile) – Prevents damage to the waterproofing layer from mechanical impact or root growth.
- Drainage Layer – Channels excess water away from the roof while retaining enough moisture within its dimples to sustain vegetation during dry periods.
- Filter Fleece (Geotextile) – Stops fine particles from the substrate entering the drainage layer, maintaining long-term water flow.
- Substrate Layer – A lightweight, engineered growing medium designed to the GRO Code, providing structure, nutrients, and water storage for plant health.
- Vegetation Layer – The pre-grown sedum or wildflower blanket that provides instant coverage, biodiversity, and seasonal flowering.
Green Roof Accessories
Accessories are an essential part of a well-designed green roof system, ensuring durability, performance, and ease of maintenance. Wallbarn supplies a full range of specialist components including aluminium edge restraints, inspection chambers, and washed pebbles to finish and protect the installation. Each product is designed to meet UK best practice and GRO Code recommendations, supporting effective drainage, access, and separation between roof zones for long-term reliability and visual consistency.
Aluminium EdgeGuard
Lightweight, durable, and easy to install, EdgeGuard provides clean separation between roof zones and acts as a perimeter restraint where no parapet is present. Available in multiple heights for a precise finish. Available in straight and flexible lengths.

Riverstone Pebbles
Washed and screened flint pebbles used around perimeters and rooftop features to improve drainage, create a fire-break and prevent vegetation encroachment, as recommended by the GRO Code.

Inspection Chambers
Powder-coated aluminium chambers providing access to outlets and irrigation points. Modular in design with extension sections to suit different build-ups.
