    • Integrated rail system for installing porcelain tiles and ceramic planks
    • Designed to give greater support to slabs and tiles and additional lateral strength across the deck The rail helps to โ€œtie togetherโ€ the pedestals, giving more stability across the upper surface

    Modular system:

    • Can be used with any Wallbarn aluminium rail Double Box Rail & I-Beam Plus
    • Special head clips for pads and rail
    • Works with our Mega Balance Clip and Minipad pedestal range

The rail headpiece has integrated lugs to hold porcelain or other slabs and tiles. The headpiece can slide along the rail to ensure a secure fit to the edges of the tiles.

The headpiece is available with 2mm or 4mm wide lugs. All lugs are 10mm high.
This system is ideal for ceramic planks, which are often very thin and can be supplied up to 1 metre in length.

The rail system not only gives greater stability across the paved area, it also speeds up installation significantly.

Instead of having to measure each pedestal height when attempting to create a flat upper surface, installers can measure the pedestals at each end of the chosen aluminium rail to get the level, then place the intermediate pedestals under the rail and
wind them up until they โ€œbiteโ€.

    * it is essential that customers also purchase Megapads or Minipads with the Rail System to make up the full system.

    For Decking

    For Decking

Aluminium joists are becoming more popular when installing decks. They have exceptional durability and resistance to corrosion, ensuring longevity and performance in various weather conditions. Unlike traditional wooden joists, aluminum joists do not warp, splinter, or decay, resulting in reduced maintenance requirements and a longer lifespan. Their lightweight nature makes installation easier and more efficient, reducing labor costs and effort.

    • Integrated system for installing decking
    • Designed to give greater support to decking at lower height thresholds and provide additional lateral strength across the deck

    Modular system:

    • Can be used with any Wallbarn aluminium rail Double Box Rail & I-Beam Plus
    • Special head clips for pedestals
    • Works with our Mega Balance Clip and Minipad pedestals ranges

All Wallbarn Aluminium Rails/Joists are specially shaped to click into the spring-loaded headpiece clips of the Mega Balance Clip and Minipad pedestals. These clips hold the rail onto the pedestal meaning no fixing is required. This dramatically speeds up installation time.

Instead of having to measure each pedestal height when attempting to create a flat upper surface, installers can measure the pedestals at each end of the aluminium rail/joist to get the level, then place the intermediate pedestals under the rail and wind them up until they โ€œbiteโ€.

    Fixed Head & Self-Levelling

    Fixed Head & Self-Levelling

The Mega Balance pedestal offers two convenient options in the one pedestal. Each pedestal is self-levelling as the standard configuration. To make it a fixed head setting, simply use “The Grey Nut.”

To enable this, insert The Grey Nut into the center of the headpiece between the marked sections and apply firm pressure. The arrows on The Grey Nut should align with the existing black molding in the central section of the headpiece. Once in position, the headpiece becomes securely locked and fixed.

By incorporating both layout options within the same pedestal, installers gain enhanced flexibility in their projects, streamlining the installation process.

    The Black Nut

The Black Nut is occasionally used when working with the Mega Balance Clip pedestal. By placing the Nut into the central part of the headpiece, it allows you adjust the height by twisting the stem of the pedestal.

This is particularly handy when using lower height pedestals and for when the pedestal is in situ with the aluminium rail/joist already connected.

    Minipad Pedestal

    Minipad Pedestal

Whether you’re working on Paving or Decking projects, Minipads offer the perfect solution for ultra-low height substructure systems. The three different Minipad options, each equipped with a clip head, cater to adjustable heights ranging from 10mm to 40mm. When paired with our 20mm aluminum Box Rail, you can achieve a substructure starting at just 30mm.

With the increasing demand for retro-fit projects with low height thresholds, Wallbarn proudly presents the lowest, sturdiest, and most reputable solution available in the market. Choose Minipads for a reliable and robust substructure that perfectly accommodates your low height requirements.

    Double Box Rail

    Double Box Rail

Wallbarn Box Rail are made from high grade extruded aluminium. They were designed by Wallbarn and made here in the United Kingdom. They are suited to both paving and decking applications and work seamlessly with our plastic and non-combustible pedestals, without the need for any mechanical fixing. We have offered the box rail for a number of years and is tried and tested on many large commercial and residential projects in the UK.

Primarily designed to be an ultra low height alternative to timber and composite joist/rails, they are now commonplace due to it’s lightweight and easy to install feature.

    • Designed & manufactured here in the UK
    • Can be used for decking and paving projects
    • Designed to give greater support to decking or paving at lower height thresholds and provide additional lateral strength across the deck.
    • Custom profile allows seamless compatability with our Mega Balance Clip & Minipad Range.

The three different designs were made to be adaptable for low height threshold projects, particularly found on retro-fit projects where insulation was added to the new buildup. When used for paving systems, we can achieve a minimum height of 35mm for the substructure (Paving Rail System). For decking we can start as low as 30mm for the substructure.

    I-Plus Beam

    I-Plus Beam

Introducing Wallbarn’s I-Plus Beam, the cutting-edge aluminium rail/joist that sets a new standard in substructure systems. Its exceptional strength allows for handling long spans, making it ideal for retro-fit projects on steel sub-structures.

The I-Plus Beam comes in three different heights – 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm – providing excellent compatibility with the Mega Balance Clip pedestal and seamless integration with the Wallbarn Rail System.

Designed and proudly manufactured in the UK, the I-Plus Beam serves as the perfect solution for both decking and paving projects. For projects requiring end-to-end connections or perpendicular configurations, we offer custom-made brackets and fixings.

Additionally, the I-Plus Beam works effortlessly with our Minipad range of pedestals, providing even more versatility and flexibility in your substructure design. With Wallbarn’s I-Plus Beam, you can be assured of a durable, reliable, and top-of-the-line solution for your construction needs.

    Connections

    Connections

You have two options for fixing the I-Plus beams together, providing convenience during installation. The first method involves using a self-tapping screw for a secure mechanical fixing. The straight and right-angle fixing brackets come with two counter- sunk holes, allowing you to easily attach them using the self-tapping screw.

The alternative fixing method utilizes a wing nut and an M8 bolt for hand-tied fixing. To implement this method, slide the bolt head into the side or bottom profile of the I-Plus beam, then simply fit the wing nut around the bracket by hand. The advantage of this approach is that it allows you to initially secure the framework loosely, giving you the flexibility to readjust and achieve precise alignment. Once the exact alignment is achieved, tighten the wing nuts to securely fasten the substructure in place. This way, you can ensure a well-fitted and stable construction.
