Aluminium edging
Improve the aesthetic finish of your green roof and also to create a separation between the vegetation and areas such as drains and roof lights.
Parapets and upstands should be kept clear of plants, to avoid roots clogging outlets and vents, and to reduce fire risk.
- An aluminum angle can be installed around your green roof modules both to improve the aesthetic finish of your green roof and also to create a separation between the vegetation and areas such as drains and roof lights
- The aluminium profile is right angled where it meets the deck, so it can sit underneath and be weighed-down either by the M-Trays® themselves or by pebbles which are recommended anyway as a fire break
- It can be mechanically fixed to the surface beneath. Or, if this a waterproofing membrane, the angle can simply be ballasted by placing your M-Trays® on top
- Where there is an exposed edge with no parapet, the perforated aluminium angle can be used to provide an edge to the green roof itself. The pebbles are then installed the other side. This ensures free flow of drainage water.
Aluminium edging bars are available in various heights including 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 150mm or 200mm high to create a clear, straight edge to the vegetation, holding it in place whilst still allowing free drainage.
Our edging bar can be powder-coated bespoke colours to meet your project’s requirements.
This product is in accordance with the GRO code of practice for green roof construction.
Irrigation
Wallbarn can supply a range of irrigation systems for installation with extensive sedum green roofs as well as intensive roof gardens.
The Manual Irrigation Kit for green roofs up to 10m2 in size is designed as the simplest and most cost-effective irrigation system for domestic applications.
- This kit is designed to be fitted to a garden tap and connected easily using a series of push connectors and nozzles so that users can turn the tap on to give adequate irrigation to the sedum or wildflower green roof in times of excess heat and / or very dry weather
- The onus is on the owners of the green roof to judge when the plants require water
- The hosepipe is connected to the tap using the standard tap fitting and can be passed through the inside of the drainpipe to access the roof
- The pipe is 16mm in diameter, so can pass between each M-Tray® unit at the base easily. Using the punch key, users will connect the irrigation risers so they stand up between the modules and clear of the vegetation
- The kit is supplied with 180° spray jets which can reach up to 3 metres at 2 bar of water pressure (90° and 360°jets can be purchased as additional items). Users should check that sufficient water pressure will reach up to the green roof area from the water source to achieve adequate spray. It is essential that the entire vegetation gets covered by the sprays
A selection of connectors and termination points are also supplied within the kit.
A water filter is not supplied but is highly recommended to prevent the jets becoming clogged with hard water. It, and a selection of timers, can also be supplied as supplementary products. Just speak to a member of our team.
Riverstone Pebbles
Create a border around your green roof as a break between the vegetation and any inlets or outlets.
We recommend laying a border of rounded riverstone pebbles around the edges of your green roof. This provides a break between the vegetation and any outlets.
We supply our Riverstone pebbles, which are in accordance with the GRO code of practice for green roof construction, in 25kg bags. Just speak to a member of the team.
