When an end client needed a Class A fire-rated decking system, Wallbarn partnered with AB Building and ISW UK to provide a seamless, start-to-finish solution. By working together, we ensured that every stage, from planning and estimating to material supply and installation—was handled with precision and efficiency, delivering a fully compliant, hassle-free result.

Precision Planning & Estimating

To ensure accurate costings and smooth project execution, we provided a detailed material estimate and quotation. Using advanced 3D scaled drawings, we helped visualise the decking system, ensuring all elements were correctly specified before work began. These visuals played a crucial role in streamlining communication between all key stakeholders:

• For the client – The 3D drawings provided a clear representation of how the finished system would look, giving them confidence in their investment before construction even started.
• For the contractor – They allowed for better installation planning, minimising uncertainties and providing a smooth build process.

A Fully Compliant & Efficient System

Wallbarn supplied the Class A fire-rated substructure, which included our MetalPad Ex adjustable pedestals and I-Plus aluminium joists. AB Building provided their ceramic ExaDeck boards, which, like the substructure, meets the latest UK fire safety regulations, delivering a 100% non-combustible system that prioritises safety without compromising on aesthetics.

To connect the components, only two simple fixings were required:

• M8 Wing Nut Kit – Securely connects pedestals to joists and for joining joists together end-to-end or at right angles.
• W Clip 60 – A hidden fixing that discreetly secures the boards while maintaining a uniform 6mm gap for drainage and clean, symmetrical lines.

This intuitive system made installation quick and straightforward, reducing time on-site while ensuring a strong and reliable finish.

The project began with careful planning and material estimation, followed by the removal and responsible disposal of the old WPC decking.
