Overview
This project required decking to be installed on three buildings: the balconies of a 26 storey tower block, in the courtyard of a school and across a number of balconies and roof terraces at a separate five-story block.
The architect specified our Ipe decking which is an exceptionally hard-wearing, tropical hardwood deck board. They also wanted supporting deck material without the life expectancy issues of using a pine frame. The Aluminium frame of the iDecking system offered the long-lasting, structural integrity that they wanted.
The contractor, Blackdown Greenroofs, used a range of our heavy-duty adjustable pedestals (Megapads) to achieve a consistent level deck surface and set-out the under-structure onto the pedestals. The deck boards were then cut to size and simply clipped onto the rail system using a rubber mallet.
iDecking is a very straightforward solution and takes far less time to install than traditional decking methods. The all-in-one board-and-rail system is also exceptionally low profile which is particularly helpful for example when retro-fitting up to door thresholds.
