FLORTEX® 120 Nonwoven Landscape Geotextile Fabric
FLORTEX® 120 is a high-performance nonwoven geotextile landscape fabric designed to provide effective and long-lasting weed control while supporting healthy plant growth. Manufactured from recycled polypropylene, this eco-conscious material is thermo-bonded – produced without the use of adhesives or chemical binders – making it an environmentally responsible choice for landscaping professionals and home gardeners alike.
Permeable, Practical, and Protective
Unlike traditional plastic weed barriers that can suffocate soil and roots, FLORTEX® 120 is fully permeable. It allows air, water, and nutrients – including applied fertilisers – to pass freely through the fabric and into the soil. This promotes vigorous plant growth while simultaneously preventing sunlight from reaching the soil, which inhibits weed germination and suppresses unwanted vegetation.
This breathable quality also helps to retain essential moisture in the soil, reducing the need for frequent watering and maintaining a cooler, more consistent temperature around plant roots. The result is a healthier growing environment with fewer maintenance demands.
Durable and Easy to Use
FLORTEX® 120 is designed for durability, with excellent tear resistance and resilience to foot traffic during installation and maintenance. It does not absorb water, reducing the risk of rot, mould, and mildew – common problems with lesser-quality alternatives.
Flexible and easy to cut, this geotextile fabric can be tailored on-site to fit awkward shapes or tight spaces, making it ideal for flower beds, borders, under decking, pathways, vegetable patches, and other landscaped areas. It is fully compatible with drip irrigation systems, making it a reliable solution for water-efficient planting schemes.
Installation Guidance
To maximise the effectiveness and lifespan of FLORTEX® 120, we recommend covering the membrane with a protective layer such as mulch, bark, gravel, or decorative pebbles. A minimum covering of 50mm is advised to hold the fabric securely in place, improve aesthetics, and prevent degradation caused by sunlight exposure.
Important Note:
FLORTEX® 120 should be covered within 24 hours of installation. Extended exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light will compromise the structural integrity of the membrane and invalidate the product’s warranty.
