How the Perimeter Edge Panel Kit Works

The Perimeter Edge Panel Kit has been developed to improve the construction of open edges within suspended paving systems, particularly where steps, exposed perimeters and vertical risers need to be formed securely and neatly. It provides a practical solution for areas where loose laid paving cannot be used at the edge, helping maintain both the structural integrity and finished appearance of the paved surface.

The kit is formed as a two-part system using identical upper and lower plates. The upper plate clicks securely onto the top of the Mega Balance pedestal headpiece, while the lower plate fixes beneath the pedestal baseplate. Once installed together, the plates create a stable edge detail that significantly reduces movement and improves support at the perimeter.

A key advantage of the system is that the top plate allows smaller cut tiles or slabs to be installed onto it, providing full support right up to the edge of the paved area. This helps eliminate unsupported sections or overhanging edges, which can affect both performance and appearance. The result is a more robust and professional perimeter finish, especially in demanding external applications.

Adhesive or silicone can be applied through the integrated holes, around the side lugs and across the bonding surfaces to secure the tile or slab in place. This creates a strong mechanical bond between the paving material and the plate, helping to minimise movement at exposed edges. For projects requiring additional restraint, installers can also adhere or mechanically fix the lower plate to the substrate beneath.

To support vertical detailing, the moulded plate includes an echelon-style toothed slat design that helps bond cut tile or slab sections and hides the suspended system. This also improves both the performance and visual finish of vertical faces, making the system particularly effective for step construction and detailed edge conditions.
