Wallbarn supplied the complete Class A fire-rated substructure, including:

• I-Plus aluminium joists

AB Building provided their ceramic ExaDeck boards, which meet the latest UK fire safety regulations. When combined, the system formed a fully non-combustible solution that prioritised safety without sacrificing visual appeal.

This integrated approach ensured compliance with current UK fire standards while maintaining the refined, contemporary finish expected of a high-quality outdoor space.

Simple, Efficient Fixing Method

A key advantage of the system was its intuitive and efficient fixing method. Only two core fixings were required to assemble the structure:

M8 Wing Nut Kit
Used to securely connect pedestals to joists and to join joists together end-to-end or at right angles. This created a stable and rigid framework with minimal complexity.

W Clip 60
A discreet hidden fixing used to secure the decking boards. The clip maintains a consistent 6mm drainage gap while delivering clean, symmetrical lines across the deck surface.

This simplified installation process reduced time on site while ensuring structural reliability and a professional finish.

Seamless Transition from Old to New

The project followed a carefully structured sequence:

2. Removal and responsible disposal of the existing WPC decking
